Michel Platini, the legendary figure of world football and the French national team, made a rather unpleasant statement for his compatriots.

The former UEFA president announced that he would not be watching football matches at the home Olympics in France in 2024.

"I'm not interested in the French Olympic team. Football is not an Olympic sport", – Platini was quoted as saying by RMC Sport.

It should be noted that Olympic football teams consist of players under the age of 23, although coaches are permitted to include three players who exceed this age limit.

The football tournament at the 2024 Olympics will commence two days before the opening ceremony of the games, on July 24. The French team, led by the legendary Thierry Henry, will compete in the tournament in a group against Guinea, the USA, and New Zealand.
