Orlando Pirates made the perfect start to their Carling Knockout title defence.

Details: The Buccaneers defeated Milford FC 3-0 at Orlando Amstel Arena in the Carling Knockout round of 16 and secured their place in the quarter-finals. Thapelo Mokobodi broke the deadlock for the hosts before Tshepang Moremi took centre stage, scoring twice before the interval to put Orlando Pirates firmly in control.

With a three-goal advantage already secured in the opening half, Orlando Pirates were able to control the game after the break and avoid giving Milford a route back into the contest. The visitors failed to overturn the situation, while the Soweto side protected another clean sheet and calmly completed the job.

The result keeps the reigning Carling Knockout champions in the race to retain their trophy. It was also the first cup meeting between Orlando Pirates and Milford, who are competing in South Africa's top flight this season.

It is worth noting that the teams had already met at the same stadium in the opening round of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership. Orlando Pirates won that match 2-0, meaning the Buccaneers have now beaten Milford twice this season without conceding a goal, with an aggregate score of 5-0.

Reminder: Bold high-stakes bet. Ex-Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng wagered a house with the club boss
