"This is a question for the media, not for me." Frenkie de Jong on his new Barcelona contract
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has once again addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding his contract renewal with the club.
The Dutch midfielder stated that he is not overly concerned with the matter.
Quote. "Extending my contract is a topic for the local newspapers, but not for me. I want to play football, and then I’ll see what the club wants to do with me. After that, I’ll decide what I want to do together with my agent and family.
My injury? In the initial stages of my ankle injury, I was focused on it day and night. It was the toughest year for me.
The moment I woke up, I would feel it right away: is it swelling? Is there a reaction? I had to constantly consider the condition of my ankle," the midfielder was quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.
Reminder. De Jong’s current contract with Barcelona runs until June 30, 2026. This season, he has made 13 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Previously, reports suggested that de Jong was unwilling to stay at Barcelona, while the club was considering selling him.
