Thibaut Courtois will not receive his commemorative plaque at Estadio Metropolitano
Thibaut Courtois spent several seasons at Atlético Madrid and even received his own memorial plaque, but then moved to Real Madrid, which did not sit well with the fans.
Details: According to Marca, Atlético Madrid club members will vote by January 5 on 20 names that will receive their 20 commemorative plaques at Estadio Metropolitano. Courtois will not be among them.
He does not meet the criteria for inclusion in the nominations, which means his existing plaque will be removed.
Previously, Atlético Madrid fans have repeatedly vandalized that memorial plaque. This happened every time Courtois played against Atlético Madrid for Real.
We also reported that Atlético Madrid’s board is looking to offer the Argentine coach a new contract. They see him as both the present and the future of Los Colchoneros.
Reminder: 30-year-old Norwegian forward Alexander Sörloth of Atlético Madrid could join Turkish side Fenerbahçe in the upcoming winter transfer window.
