Thibaut Courtois speaks out on supporting Xabi Alonso after the defeat to City
In Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid lost 2–1 at home to Manchester City, but after the final whistle the players publicly backed Xabi Alonso.
Details: Speaking after the match, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said the squad is fully behind Xabi Alonso, something he believes was evident in the team’s performance.
Quote: “We are with Xabi Alonso. We support him 100%, and you can see that on the pitch”, Courtois said.
He also added that they are ready to die on the football field for their head coach.
For the record, the Spanish coach has become the fastest Real manager to suffer two Champions League defeats, reaching that mark in just six matches. The previous quickest was Santiago Solari.
