On Tuesday, September 17, the new UEFA Champions League season kicked off with the first matches featuring 12 teams.
Dailysports has named the best player of the day, and it is Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper. Despite the "Galacticos" winning 3-1, Stuttgart might have posed a greater challenge were it not for the Belgian's exceptional performance.
Courtois made six saves during the match, including three inside the penalty area. Additionally, he prevented 1.42 goals, intercepted a cross, delivered 33 accurate short passes, and four precise long passes. In total, Courtois made 52 touches of the ball.
