Thibaut Courtois disclosed whether he will participate in the UEFA EURO 2024
The goalkeeper of the Belgian national team and Real Madrid has shared insights into his recovery from injury and whether he will play in the Euro, as reported by Sporza.
According to his statements, everything is currently going according to plan, even slightly better than initially expected. Courtois has not encountered any problems since the operation.
"At the moment, it is crucial to be patient. But it only takes 9-10 months to return to the highest level. I won't be playing in the European Championship due to the injury. I first need to fully recover, and for now, it's better not to look too far ahead. If I'm fortunate, I may be able to play one match in May," said the goalkeeper.
However, according to the Belgian, he is not very ready for the major football event. Courtois is sitting out the current season after sustaining a knee ligament injury in August.
Recall that on August 8, 2018, Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Courtois for six years. The newcomer signed a six-year contract with an annual salary of seven million euros. As part of the deal for Courtois, Mateo Kovacic became a part of the agreement, with Real Madrid loaning him until the end of the season with an option to buy.
Courtois, along with the "Royal" club, became the champion of La Liga, the winner of the UEFA Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.
