The Central Bank of Portugal has released an official statement in response to recent reports about a banknote featuring Ronaldo’s image.

Details: Recently, the media circulated reports claiming that the Bank of Portugal was set to issue a new commemorative banknote with Cristiano Ronaldo’s image. However, it has now emerged that this was a scam orchestrated by fraudsters.

The bank stated that this was the first time they had heard of such a banknote and that nothing of the sort had ever been issued:

"The Bank of Portugal has become aware of false posts circulating on social networks regarding the issuance by the Bank of Portugal of a €7 banknote in honor of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Central Bank has not issued, introduced, nor does it plan to issue or introduce ‘any banknotes alluding to the person in question’," the statement reads.

At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo remains a true icon of Portuguese football. He has played 226 matches for the national team, netting 143 goals. In 2016, Ronaldo led Portugal to a European Championship, and in 2019 and 2025, he claimed the Nations League title.

Reminder: Serious level! Cristiano Ronaldo opens his own private club
