"They removed half my kidney": NBA legend Dwyane Wade opens up about cancer battle
NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade made a shocking revelation on his show The Why with Dwyane Wade, sharing details about his personal battle with cancer.
The 43-year-old disclosed that 13 months ago, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, which resulted in the loss of 40% of his right kidney. The tumor’s difficult location initially made it uncertain whether doctors would be able to remove it entirely.

The former basketball star also used the moment to urge people to undergo regular medical check-ups, emphasizing the importance of early detection in preventing serious health conditions.
Wade is a three-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat and a 13-time NBA All-Star, having made the annual showcase every year from 2005 to 2016. He also won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Games.
