This season, Aston Villa is closer than ever to setting a new record for consecutive victories.

Details: According to the statistical portal Opta, after yesterday's away win over Swiss side Basel in the 6th round of the Europa League, the Birmingham club extended its winning streak to eight matches, equaling a feat last achieved back in 1914.

If Aston Villa wins its next three games, it will also tie the club's all-time record of 11 consecutive victories, which was set over 100 years ago.

With Unai Emery at the helm, Aston Villa has truly blossomed, becoming a formidable force not only in European competitions but also in the English Premier League.

At the moment, Aston Villa sits third in the overall Europa League group stage table with 15 points. In the Premier League, Emery's team is also third, boasting 30 points and an unbeaten run of five matches.
