There will be no Ivorian supporters travelling from Ivory Coast to the World Cup in the United States
Difficulties in obtaining visas have prevented them from travelling to America.
The Ivorian national team will not be able to count on its supporters from Abidjan for the World Cup co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. They have not obtained the visas required to enter the US to watch their national team’s matches during the tournament, which will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
Faced with this situation, the Ivorian supporters have decided not to travel to support the Elephants, according to the president of the Ivorian National Supporters’ Committee, Julien Kouadio Adonis, in an interview with French news agency.
“The supporters have cancelled the trip because the US government does not want to see supporters from certain countries, including Ivory Coast, on its soil. The United States has been clear with us, saying they do not want to see our supporters. This situation is very painful for us as it prevents us from fulfilling our fundamental duty, which is to support our team. We could have showcased our culture and our expertise as supporters in the stands."
However, around ten officials from the national supporters’ committee were able to travel to the United States. The Ivorian national team will also be able to count on its diaspora in America.
