Olympique Lyon is content with their draw, as they prepare to face Bulgaria’s Ludogorets in the final Europa League group stage match, a game unlikely to pose significant challenges.

Lyon focused heavily on defense in the first half. Fenerbahçe imposed an intense pace, forcing the French side to rely on fouls to disrupt their rhythm. Lyon committed 12 fouls compared to Fenerbahçe’s 6, with tensions escalating late in the half when Moussa Niakhaté was initially shown a red card, only to have it downgraded to yellow after a review.

In the second half, Lyon played with greater confidence. By the end of the match, they not only caught up with Fenerbahçe in terms of attempts but surpassed them, registering 13 shots (7 on target) compared to the Turkish side's 10 (2 on target).

Lyon now sits third in the group table and has already secured their place in the next stage regardless of the outcome of the final match.

Before kickoff, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims of the tragic fire at the Kartalkaya Ski Center in Turkey, which claimed at least 79 lives.

Lyon's Top Performers

  • Moussa Niakhaté

Lyon’s defensive focus in the first half put the most pressure on Niakhaté. He made 8 defensive actions in the first half, including winning 3 aerial duels. By the end of the match, his stats grew to 12 defensive actions and 2 blocked shots. While not flashy, his composure and skills were crucial in preserving the draw.

  • Corentin Tolisso

Tolisso was one of Lyon’s standout players, recording 8 defensive actions and winning 8 of 16 duels. He demonstrated his commitment by fighting for every ball. Tolisso also created Lyon's most dangerous chance of the first half, forcing a save with a shot on target. Interestingly, despite spending much of the game in advanced positions, he also contributed significantly to defensive duties.

  • Rayan Cherki

Cherki once again took on the role of Lyon’s offensive leader. He registered two shots on target and delivered two well-placed corners that nearly resulted in goals. Throughout the match, he not only created his own chances but also set up opportunities for his teammates.
