On May 16 in Rome, Elina Svitolina and Coco Gauff were set to face off in the WTA 1000 final. The match was originally scheduled for 17:00 Central European Time, but the weather had other plans.

The issue arose because yesterday, May 15, the semifinal between Medvedev and Sinner was suspended due to rain. Just a few minutes ago, the players returned to Centre Court to complete the third set, which meant the women's singles final was already pushed back from its original start time. However, rain once again disrupted the schedule.

At this moment, the match has started and the first game is underway.

For the record, Gauff and Svitolina have played each other five times—Svitolina leads the head-to-head 3-2. This is their first meeting on clay.
