The world football legend was the victim of a robbery and was injured by a gunshot
Legendary former Italian striker Roberto Baggio has fallen victim to an armed robbery.
According to Corriere dello Veneto, five armed men broke into Baggio's home and took his family hostage. When the former footballer attempted to resist, he was struck on the head with the butt of a pistol, causing a deep wound.
The assailants then locked Baggio and his family in a room and began ransacking the house. By the time Baggio managed to break down the door, the robbers had already fled. They stole jewelry, watches, money, and other personal items.
Baggio called the police, who have yet to apprehend the culprits. The Italian football legend was immediately taken to the hospital, where he received stitches and all necessary medical treatment.
Throughout his illustrious career, Baggio played for AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina, Vicenza, Bologna, and Brescia. He won the Ballon d'Or in 1993.
