The WBC has suspended Ryan Garcia from any activity in the organization. What's the reason?
President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, announced the suspension of American boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) from any activity under the organization's aegis.
The decision was made due to the boxer’s discriminatory behavior and substance abuse.
"Using my authority as WBC President, I am suspending Ryan Garcia from any activity under our organization as of today. We reject any form of discrimination.
I am concerned for Ryan's well-being, as he has declined numerous attempts to receive our help with mental health and substance abuse issues," Sulaiman stated on his X account.
It is worth noting that Ryan Garcia is officially suspended for a year for using the banned substance ostarine before his fight against Devin Haney.
Immediately after the suspension decision, Garcia announced his retirement from boxing.
