The winner of the boxing match between Benavidez and Andrade will be the mandatory challenger for the WBC belt in the middleweight division, as confirmed by the organization.

This title is currently held by Mexican boxer Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The bout itself is scheduled to take place on November 25 in Las Vegas, USA.

Earlier reports indicated that in May 2024, Canelo may face Jaime Munguia, and in the fall, contend against the winner of the Benavidez-Andrade match. The Mexican last entered the ring in October, securing a unanimous decision victory over Jermell Charlo.

Benavidez, an American professional boxer, competes in the middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight divisions. He is the current interim world champion according to the WBC and a former two-time WBC world champion in the middleweight division (2017-2018, 2019-2020).

As for Andrade, the American professional boxer competes in the super welterweight, middleweight, and super middleweight divisions. An Olympic participant in 2008, he is a world champion (2007) and a silver medallist in the Pan American Games (2007) in amateur boxing.

In the professional realm, Andrade is a former WBO world champion in the middleweight division (2018-2022) and a former champion in the WBA (2017) and WBO (2013-2015) versions of the super welterweight division.
