The transfer is getting closer! Salah and Núñez could soon be teammates again

Trabzonspor has taken another major step toward a headline-making boost to their attack.

Details: According to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Trabzonspor has reached an agreement with Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez. The Turkish club is now in ongoing talks with Al-Hilal to finalize the player's transfer.

Earlier reports already indicated that Trabzonspor had made significant progress in negotiations for the 27-year-old forward. If the deal goes through, Núñez will once again line up alongside Mohamed Salah, his former Liverpool teammate.

It's worth noting that last season Núñez played 24 matches for Al-Hilal across all competitions, netting 9 goals and providing 5 assists. His market value is currently estimated by Transfermarkt at €20 million.

Núñez began his career at Uruguayan side Peñarol before moving to Europe, where he played for Almería and Benfica. It was in Portugal that the striker made his mark, finishing as the league's top scorer in the 2021/22 season with 26 goals. In 2022, the Uruguayan joined Liverpool, where he played 143 matches, scored 40 goals, and won both the EFL Cup and the Premier League. In the summer of 2025, Núñez left England to continue his career at Al-Hilal.
