The president of the Senegalese Football Federation states that the Lions of Teranga remain the legal African champions for 2025.

Abdoulaye Fall remains calm in the face of the decision by the African Football Confederation’s Appeal Committee to strip Senegal of the title and award it to Morocco. In his view, legally speaking, nothing threatens Senegal. He reassures that all necessary steps have been taken, notably with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, to challenge this CAF decision, announced on 17 March, two months after the final played on 18 January.

Legally speaking, there is no threat to the title. We have filed a statement with the CAS. We were awaiting CAF’s reasoning. We received it today (Friday). I am at ease with this situation. Legally speaking, the title cannot be taken away from Senegal. Senegal remains African champions. As for the rest, it is of little consequence. The most important thing is to win on the pitch.
