The surprise was close. Sinner advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open after a grueling match
In the third round of the prestigious ATP Masters series tournament in Miami, the third-ranked player in the world, Jannik Sinner, faced off against the representative from the Netherlands, Tallon Griekspoor.
For the 22-year-old Italian, this match proved to be much tougher than his previous game against Vavassori in the previous stage. Sinner unexpectedly lost the first set, and the second set followed a similar pattern but ended in Jannik's favor. At the start of the decisive set, the Italian made an early break and never looked back, winning 6-1.
Miami ATP. Hard court. Round of 16
Tallon Griekspoor (Netherlands, 26) - Jannik Sinner (Italy, 3) - 7:5, 5:7, 1:6.
It's worth noting that this was the fourth head-to-head meeting between the two tennis players, and it ended just like the previous three - with Sinner's victory. For a spot in the quarterfinals, Jannik will face the winner of the match between Martin Damm and Christopher O'Connell.
