The Spokesperson For Egyptian Club Zamalek Compares Zizo’s Contract Negotiations to Mohamed Salah’s Renewal Talks
The Egyptian team Zamalek's spokesman, Ahmed Salem, has discussed the speculation surrounding the future of winger Ahmed Sayed, also known as "Zizo," whose contract expires in June 2025. According to recent speculations, if Zamalek doesn't extend his contract, Zizo may go for Al Ahly, one of his fiercest rivals. According to Transfermarkt, there’s a 55% chance Zizo could move to Al Ahly.
In an interview with the Egyptian TV channel "On Time Sports," Salem showed confidence in Zizo’s loyalty to Zamalek. He explained that recent chants from fans directed at Zizo weren’t personal. Salem also highlighted that Zizo is an important player for the club, and contract talks are just a normal part of the process.
Salem stated that the club has placed some boundaries on the renewal offer, but Zizo is attempting to negotiate the best financial agreement. "Most of the rumors are not true, and everything will be clear once we reach an agreement," Salem said.
He asserted that athletes have the right to consider their own best interests and likened Zizo's predicament to Mohamed Salah's contract negotiations with Liverpool.
Zizo joined Zamalek in 2019 and has played in 243 games, tallying 79 goals and 65 assists. He has assisted the team in winning two CAF Confederation Cups and two Egyptian Premier League titles.
