The son of the legendary Spanish goalkeeper will continue his career in Portugal

The son of legendary Spanish goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares, Lucas, is following in his father's footsteps by training with Real Madrid's youth teams. However, at 22, it's time for him to prove himself at a senior level.

Since there's no place for him in Real Madrid's first team—even for Andriy Lunin—Real decided to let Lucas continue his career elsewhere. The young goalkeeper has joined the Portuguese club Farense, which plays in the top division, as a free agent.

Last season, Lucas Cañizares played 29 matches for Real Madrid's Castilla, conceding 33 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets.

Interestingly, in February of the previous year, while being a backup to Andriy Lunin, he won the Club World Cup with Real Madrid in Qatar.
