Bayern Munich and Germany national team legend Jerome Boateng has officially become a player for Serie A club Salernitana.

The contract for the 35-year-old footballer with the new club is valid until the end of the current season, with an option for an extension for one more season.

Boateng spent the last two seasons with Lyon, from which he departed in the summer. The 2014 World Cup champion played 35 matches for the French club, contributing with 2 assists.

Another legendary former Bayern Munich player, Franck Ribery, previously played for Salernitana. Currently, Ribery is part of the coaching staff of the team led by Filippo Inzaghi.

After 22 rounds, Salernitana is at the bottom of Serie A, with only 12 points in their tally under Filippo Inzaghi's management.
