The Senegalese Football Federation breaks its silence on the situation of supporters detained in Morocco
The governing body of Senegalese football assures that the situation is being monitored ‘with the utmost attention’.
In response to concerns expressed by some Senegalese citizens, the Senegalese Football Federation affirms that the Senegalese government is fully mobilised at the highest level and working closely with the relevant Moroccan authorities. According to the FSF, this approach is in line with the fraternal and historic relations that unite the two countries.
Consequently, the Federation seeks to reassure the public and remains confident that a favourable outcome will be reached as soon as possible.
"Under the coordination of the Senegalese ambassador to Morocco, all necessary steps are being taken to closely monitor the conditions of detention of our compatriots, to guarantee respect for their fundamental rights and to provide them with appropriate legal assistance.
The Federation remains in solidarity with its supporters, whose constant commitment to our national teams is recognised and appreciated."
Arrested on 18 January 2026 following incidents during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco, the trial of these supporters has been postponed several times.
