The semi-finalists of the 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships have been determined

On Tuesday, January 2nd, at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships taking place in Sweden, the quarterfinal matches were held.

In the first pair, Finland and Slovakia finished the regulation time with a tied score of 3:3. The game went into overtime, and it took the Finns only 24 seconds to secure a victory and advance to the semifinals. In the second match, Canada faced the Czech Republic, and in this pair, the main sensation of this stage occurred. The Czechs managed to snatch a victory with just 11 seconds left in the regulation time.

The only match without any suspense was the encounter between the USA and Latvia. The Americans easily defeated the Latvians with a score of 7:2. The last ticket to the semifinals was contested by Sweden and Switzerland. The Swedes took a 2:0 lead in the first period, but the Swiss managed to come back into the game and force it into overtime. However, success for them ended there. Sweden earned a power play and capitalized on it. Thus, with a score of 3:2, the hosts secured victory.
