The scandal is escalating. UEFA and CONCACAF demand $2.11 billion from Infantino

UEFA and CONCACAF have sent FIFA President Gianni Infantino a joint letter demanding that at least $10 million be allocated to each of the organization’s 211 member associations from its accumulated reserves. The total payout would amount to $2.11 billion, reports Talk Sport.

The letter was signed by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani. The document states that FIFA will complete the 2023–2026 cycle with reserves of around $6 billion—far more than the organization needs.

The initiative emerged after the closure of the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which envisioned the partial privatization of FIFA and the attraction of private investment. Critics of the project argued that the organization could have used its own reserves instead of seeking outside funding.

Against this backdrop, the pressure on Infantino continues to mount. UEFA Vice President Laura McAllister said that a candidate capable of challenging him should enter the race for the FIFA presidency in March 2027. So far, however, no contender has officially put themselves forward.
