The story began when Salah visited a plateau near Trabzon and posed for photos on an ordinary rock amid the green hills. Within days, the spot went viral, locals nicknamed it "Salahtashi", and visitors started flocking to the mountains to recreate the Egyptian's pose. The phenomenon says everything about the frenzy surrounding the former Liverpool star since his sensational free transfer to Trabzonspor in August, when thousands greeted him at the airport and a special website was even launched to welcome him to the city. And Salah is repaying that love on the pitch: on Saturday, he delivered a stunning hat-trick and an assist in a 4-0 demolition of league leaders Galatasaray, giving new manager Thomas Reis a dream start and handing the defending champions their first defeat of the season. The 34-year-old, who signed a two-year contract after nine glorious years at Anfield, has already become more than a footballer for the Black Sea city: he is now part of its landscape, quite literally, rock included.
