The Romanian tennis star has ended her partnership with coach and accused him of disqualification
Former world No. 1 Simona Halep has announced the end of her collaboration with coach Patrick Mouratoglou and his academy.
"I have always been open to learning from people. That's why you hire a team – you need information, you need to get better. I have always trusted people, and now it's hard for me to do that. I don't know if I'll be able to trust in the future. And I have a principle – if you hire someone, you have to trust that person," said Simona.
The Romanian now has a new defense strategy, which includes Mouratoglou admitting guilt for what happened to her.
It's worth noting that the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) suspended the Romanian for four years for two anti-doping violations. Halep's drug test yielded a positive result for the banned substance Roxadustat after the 2022 US Open, and subsequently, violations were found in her biological passport.
Earlier, Mouratoglou expressed that he "feels responsible for what has happened."
