On May 17, the final matchday of the 2025/2026 season took place in French Ligue 1. Following the conclusion of all games, the participants of European competitions and the teams relegated from the elite division were determined.
Paris Saint-Germain had already secured the league title earlier in the week, but the final distribution of European spots will depend on the outcome of the Coupe de France final, where Lens and Nice will face off on May 22.
At the moment, there are two possible scenarios:
If Lens win the Coupe de France:
- Champions League — PSG (champions, league stage), Lens (second place, league stage), Lille (third place, league stage), and Lyon (fourth place, qualification)
- Europa League — Marseille (fifth place, league stage), Rennes (sixth place, league stage)
- Conference League — Monaco (seventh place, league stage)
If Nice win the Coupe de France:
- Champions League — PSG (champions, league stage), Lens (second place, league stage), Lille (third place, league stage), and Lyon (fourth place, qualification)
- Europa League — Marseille (fifth place, league stage), Nice (cup winners, league stage)
- Conference League — Rennes (sixth place, league stage)
Nantes and Metz have been automatically relegated from Ligue 1. Nice will fight to retain their spot in the French top flight in the playoff against Saint-Étienne. Troyes and Le Mans have earned promotion from Ligue 2.
