“The Result Was a Shame” – Akor Adams Opens Up on Sevilla’s Defeat to Real Oviedo
Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has spoken openly about Sevilla’s disappointing 1–0 loss to Real Oviedo in La Liga on Sunday, a result that has increased pressure on the club as they fight to avoid relegation.
The match was the first under Sevilla’s new head coach, Luis García Plaza, who was tasked with stabilizing a team in crisis. Sevilla were handed a significant setback when they received a first-half red card, leaving them down to ten men and struggling to execute their game plan. Federico Viñas scored the lone goal, condemning the Andalusian side to another tough defeat.
Reflecting on the game, Adams told Sevilla’s official website: “The result was a shame. It wasn't what we had prepared with the new manager, and we have to reset and forget this result as soon as possible.”
He also addressed external factors, clarifying that the defeat wasn’t due to officiating: “We didn't lose because of the referees, but we had several incidents that could have gone against us.”
