"The responsibility lies with Ancelotti." Real Madrid coach criticized over Mbappé signing
Real Madrid's long-anticipated signing of Kylian Mbappé, years in the making, has not yet met expectations. With the team showing lackluster performances, club legends have turned their criticism towards the decision to bring in the French star.
Details: Former Real Madrid player Christophe Dugarry suggested that perhaps Mbappé's move to Madrid came at an inopportune time. Despite his arrival, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is being held accountable for not utilizing him more effectively.
Quote: “Real may have signed him at the wrong time. Maybe there was no need to bring him in. They took him, thinking his talent alone would suffice. Real misjudged his qualities and limitations. He must adapt to a new position, and he will need to double his effort and determination.
“This team is poorly balanced and not set up to serve a center-forward. The ball needs to be delivered as close as possible to the penalty area. They aren’t using him in his best position. I believe the responsibility for this falls on Ancelotti. He should either play Mbappé in his ideal role or bench him. Ancelotti must take responsibility, as Mbappé will need time to adapt to this position,” Dugarry told Mundo Deportivo.
Reminder: Previously, another former Real Madrid player, Predrag Mijatović, also criticized Ancelotti’s management decisions.
