The legendary Real Madrid defender, Nacho Fernandez, will depart from the club after the conclusion of the current season.

According to Marca's chief editor Jose Felix Diaz, the experienced center-back has turned down Real's initial offer for a new contract. His current agreement with the club expires in the summer of 2024, and Nacho could attain free-agent status.

However, there is a possibility that Nacho may change his decision at the last moment.

If Nacho doesn't reconsider, Real plans for his place in the squad to be taken by Rafa Marin, who has been playing successfully for Alaves on loan this season.

Nacho Fernandez is a product of Real Madrid's youth system. Throughout his entire career, this 34-year-old defender has played for his hometown club. Currently, Nacho has accumulated 353 appearances and scored 16 goals for Real. In the ongoing season, he has featured in 34 matches across all competitions.

It's worth noting that Real Madrid is leading La Liga with an 8-point gap ahead of Barcelona. Tomorrow, Carlo Ancelotti's team will face Manchester City in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
