The Barcelona prosecutor's office insists on a nine-year prison sentence for footballer Dani Alves, as reported by EFE.

In addition, the prosecutor is demanding that the Brazilian full-back pay a monetary compensation of 150,000 euros to the victim of the alleged sexual assault. Furthermore, the prosecutor has twice rejected requests from Alves' lawyers to change the preventive measure to house arrest. There is a strong belief that the Brazilian might probably flee Spain.

It is reasonable to recall that Alves is accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman. The incident occurred on December 30th of last year in one of the nightclubs in Barcelona. Since then, Alves has been in pre-trial detention.

Recently, the Spanish Supreme Court has accepted the appeal of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves in a tax fraud case. As per the decision, the Spanish tax authorities will have to refund the Brazilian football star 3.2 million euros.

The representatives of Dani Alves have appealed the verdict issued by the administrative court in Madrid. The appeal argued that the footballer had indeed filed the correct tax declaration for income from image rights during his time with Barcelona in the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons.
