Manchester United is gearing up for a blockbuster squad reinforcement in the 2026 summer transfer window.
Details: According to TEAMtalk, the Red Devils' management is prepared to shell out around €100 million (£87.4m) for Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon. Reports suggest that if they qualify for the Champions League under interim manager Michael Carrick, the club’s INEOS owners plan to invest over £200 million in transfers.
Journalist Ben Jacobs notes that United is especially attracted by the player’s versatility—Anthony not only boasts "blistering pace" on the left wing but is also eager to try his hand as a number nine. For United, who are seeking more options up front, Gordon’s ability to play through the center has become a key factor in adding him to their shortlist.
This season, Gordon continues to deliver impressive numbers: during his time at Newcastle, he has already scored 32 goals and provided 28 assists in 141 appearances. Besides Gordon, United are also tracking RB Leipzig star Jan Diomande, but the Englishman—with his Premier League experience—remains the priority target.
Reminder: Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães has suffered a serious injury and will miss the upcoming World Cup warm-up friendlies.
