This formal denial follows publications on social media attributing a position to the president of the FIF.

These posts attributed to the president of the Ivorian Football Federation a clear position on the situation of the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football.

In an official statement on Sunday 15 February, Yacine Diallo said that he had not made any request for the departure of Véron Mosengo-Omba, Secretary General of CAF. The president of the Ivorian Football Federation stated that he had not done so publicly or privately, nor during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Dar es Salaam on 13 February.

"President Yacine Idriss Diallo wishes to make it clear that at no time, either publicly or privately, and certainly not during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held on Friday 13 February 2026, did he make any request for the departure of the CAF Secretary General, Mr Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The comments and intentions attributed to him in no way reflect his position.

Furthermore, President Yacine Idriss Diallo states that, to his knowledge, no such statement was made by his fellow federation presidents during the aforementioned CAF Executive Committee meeting.

He calls for responsibility, restraint and rigour in the handling and dissemination of this type of information."
