He was found guilty of money laundering, embezzlement and forgery after an eight-month investigation by the Congolese courts.

The Congolese football establishment has been hit hard by the Congolese justice system. Prosecuted for corruption offences that had been rocking the governing body of Congolese football for several months, Jean-Guy Blaise Mayolas was sentenced in absentia on Tuesday 10 March 2026.

The court that tried the head of Congolese football found him guilty of embezzling approximately $1.3 million in funds allocated by FIFA. FECOFOOT officials also received sentences. Secretary General Badji Mombo Wantete and Treasurer Raoul Kanda were each sentenced to five years in prison. Life imprisonment was also imposed on Guy Blaise Mayolas' wife and son.
