The Portuguese grandee is targeting the signing of the European league's top scorer

Benfica lost last season's Portuguese championship to Sporting, falling ten points behind their neighbours from Sporting. But, the Eagles are determined to rectify that.
According to Matteo Moretto, Benfica are in talks to sign last season's Dutch top scorer Vagelis Pavlidis from AZ. The 25-year-old Greek has given his consent to move to Portugal, but things are not yet finalised between the clubs.
But, it is a matter of time as the negotiations are entering the final straight. Benfica's offer is as follows: 17 million euros outright, with two million euros provided in the form of bonuses.
Pavlidis has really struggled to score goals this season, as in 34 league games the Greek has netted 29 goals, scoring for AZ in the Eredivisie every 104 minutes. He also has three goals and two assists in 10 Conference League games, taking into account qualification.
