The Portuguese Football Federation comments for the first time on the tragic death of Diogo Jota

No one can believe it even now.
Details: The Portuguese Football Federation issued an official statement on its social media pages following the tragic death of Diogo Jota.
The current president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença, expressed his condolences on the organization’s official website:
“The Portuguese Football Federation and the entire Portuguese football community are in complete shock over the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, which occurred last night in Spain.
Diogo Jota was not only an outstanding footballer, capped nearly 50 times for the national team, but also an incredible person—respected by teammates and opponents alike, full of life, and beloved in his community.
The Portuguese Football Federation extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Diogo and André Silva, as well as to Liverpool and Penafiel, the clubs the players represented.
The Federation has already contacted UEFA with a request to hold a minute’s silence before the Women’s Euro match between Portugal and Spain, which will take place this Thursday.
We have lost two champions. The loss of Diogo and André Silva is an irreparable blow to Portuguese football, and we will do everything possible to honor their legacy every single day,” Pedro stated.
