The pivotal player of Barcelona has voiced his thoughts on his future
Midfielder Barcelona's Frankie De Jong has spoken about his future at the Catalan club.
The Dutch midfielder has confirmed that he is content at the club and has no plans to change anything this summer.
"Will I stay at Barça? Yes, I am very content at Barcelona. My family is also pleased with everything, that's for sure. Does Hansi Flick want me to be a pivotal player? I have spoken with him, everything was good, after the Euros we will see what happens," quoted the midfielder by Fabrizio Romano.
The situation with the Dutchman was uncertain due to his contract. Barcelona wants to extend his agreement, which is set to expire in 2026, but with a significant reduction in salary, which could also alleviate their financial issues.
One of the main contenders for De Jong was believed to be Paris Saint-Germain. The French champions closely monitored the player and planned to strengthen their squad with him this year.
However, it was later reported that the interest of the French champions in the Dutchman had cooled. The reason for this was the excellent performance of their current player, Verratti, in the past season.
