The Paris Prosecutor's Office is investigating sabotage on the railway lines

French railway operator SNCF reported that the high-speed network was subjected to sabotage, including arson, which disrupted travel for hundreds of thousands of people just hours before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
According to France 24, the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into a suspected attempt to undermine "fundamental national interests." It is noted that this crime carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison. A source close to the investigation stated that the attacks were coordinated acts of sabotage.
French authorities have characterized the attacks on the high-speed rail network as "criminal acts" and are investigating whether they are connected to the Olympic Games. The disruptions are expected to affect a quarter of a million people. French security forces are searching for those responsible for these attacks.
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM Central European Time. The 2024 Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, featuring 329 medal events across 32 sports.
