Norwegian central midfielder Frederik Aursnes of Benfica, at the age of 28, has made the decision to retire from international football.

"I feel that I want more time and freedom to prioritize other things than football in my life", – Aursnes wrote on his social media accounts.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been one of the key players for Benfica this season. He has appeared in 43 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 11 assists. Lately, he has often played as a left-back.

For the Norwegian national team, which failed to qualify for the 2024 European Championship, Aursnes made his debut only in 2021. He has played 20 matches for Norway and scored 1 goal.

Before joining Benfica, this footballer played for Feyenoord and Molde.
