The new Sergi Roberto: Barcelona finds a new position for Casado
Barcelona’s central midfielder Marc Casado has emerged as one of the standout players this season, and the coaching staff believes he could contribute even more on the field.
Details: According to Diario Sport, Barcelona sees potential for Casado to play beyond his role as a central midfielder. The club envisions him as a “new Sergi Roberto,” capable of performing both in central midfield and on the right side of the defense.
Casado has experience playing as a right-back for Barcelona B, and head coach Hans Flick is keen to utilize this versatility. Sources suggest that Casado may feature on the right side of defense in the upcoming match against Celta, allowing Jules Koundé some rest.
This season, Casado has made 15 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona, contributing five assists.
Reminder: Just yesterday, Barcelona forward Ansu Fati suffered yet another injury that will sideline him for four weeks.
