"The new Ferguson has arrived!". Amorim joked on the eve of the match against Man City
Tomorrow, November 5, Sporting Lisbon will host Manchester City in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League, a match drawing added intrigue as Sporting’s head coach, Rúben Amorim, is set to take over as Manchester United’s manager on November 11. Ahead of the game, the Portuguese coach couldn’t resist a bit of humor.
Details: At the press conference, Amorim joked that if Sporting manages to defeat Manchester City, expectations for his role at Manchester United might reach stratospheric levels.
Quote:
“If the result is negative, the expectations about me will drop… But if we win, they will think the new Sir Alex Ferguson has arrived!”
Reminder: Until Amorim’s arrival, Manchester United is being managed temporarily by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who previously served as Erik ten Hag's assistant.
