Contrary to expectations, Barcelona's defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu will not be leaving the club this summer.

According to Gabriel Sans, if Xavi had remained the head coach of Barcelona, Romeu would have had no chance of staying at the club. However, the new manager, Hansi Flick, highly values the skills and physical attributes of the experienced player.

Barcelona has already informed Romeu that he will only be sold if a very good offer comes in.

Romeu himself is dissatisfied with how the previous season went for him and is determined to prove that Barcelona was right to invest in him last summer.

It is worth noting that Romeu is a product of Barcelona's youth academy, but until last season, he had not played a single match for the club's first team. Last summer, Barcelona bought the 32-year-old from Girona, and he participated in 38 matches across all competitions.
