The legendary former footballer of Manchester City and the Argentina national team, Carlos Tevez, has been hospitalized in his homeland.

The head coach of Independiente complained of chest pain and was subsequently admitted to the hospital, according to a statement from the Argentine club's press service.

"Our coach, Carlos Tevez, went to La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro with chest pain. They conducted the appropriate tests, which turned out to be satisfactory. Today, he will continue with a series of pre-scheduled tests as part of a routine check-up," the club's statement said.

Tevez, aged 40, became the head coach of Independiente in August 2023 and extended his contract until 2026 in December. This came after he transformed the team from relegation contenders into contenders for top positions last season. Currently, the team occupies the sixth position in the Argentine league.

Tevez played 201 matches in the Premier League, scoring 84 goals while representing West Ham, Manchester United, and Manchester City. He won two Premier League titles and the Champions League with United before becoming a league champion with Manchester City.

The Argentine is also known for his performances for Juventus, Corinthians, Boca Juniors, and the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.
