The main fight is a championship fight. Ilia Topuria vs Max Holloway. UFC 308 Card
Tonight, at Etihad Arena on Yas Island - UFC's renowned “Fight Island” - near Abu Dhabi, UAE, the highly anticipated UFC 308 will take place.
The headliner of the event features a featherweight (65.8 kg) title bout between reigning champion Ilia Topuria of Spain and former champion, the American BMF titleholder, Max Holloway.
Topuria showcased his potential from the very start of his UFC career. He debuted with an 8-0 record in 2020 and quickly established himself as a top prospect. By the end of 2022, he was a leading contender after a spectacular second-round knockout of Bryce Mitchell.
In 2023, Topuria fought only once, delivering a dominant five-round performance against Josh Emmett. Earlier this year, he faced Australian champion Alex Volkanovski, flooring him in the second round in a decisive victory. The upcoming bout marks Topuria's first title defense in the featherweight division.
Holloway, a UFC veteran since his 2012 debut, has clashed with many of the sport's elite: Dustin Poirier (twice), Conor McGregor, Charles Oliveira, Anthony Pettis, José Aldo (twice), Brian Ortega, Volkanovski (three times), Yair Rodríguez, Justin Gaethje, and more. The American held the featherweight belt from 2016, after his victory over Pettis, until 2020, when Volkanovski claimed it. Holloway then secured the BMF title with a knockout of Gaethje in April at UFC 300.
The co-main event showcases a middleweight (83.9 kg) clash between former Australian champion Robert Whittaker and UAE’s Khamzat Chimaev.
The two were initially scheduled to meet in June, but Chimaev withdrew due to health issues, and Whittaker went on to knock out Ikram Aliskerov in the first round.
Fans can also look forward to a heavyweight showdown between former title contender Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov. Additionally, the main card features a light heavyweight bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Austrian Aleksandar Rakić.
The preliminary card promises intrigue as well, featuring a featherweight bout between the UK's Lerone Murphy and American Dan Ige, as well as a matchup between former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos of Brazil and American Geoff Neal.
The event will feature a total of 13 fights, and the team at Dailysports has prepared the complete UFC 308 card for you.
