The Liverpool and Colombian national team player, Luis Diaz, has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks following his impressive performances for the Merseyside club. Interest in the 26-year-old footballer is likely to intensify after his brace helped Colombia secure a 2-1 victory over Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers in yesterday's match.

The striker's father has strengthened Barcelona's hopes of signing the former Porto star, acknowledging his son's strong admiration for the Catalan club. Luis Manuel was released from captivity just over a week ago, having been freed by the National Liberation Army (ELN) rebels, who had abducted him and his wife, releasing him 12 days later.

"Truth be told, at this moment, I have very little knowledge about Barcelona. But I do know that Luis is a devoted Barcelona supporter, and he dreams of going there," he mentioned to Win Sports. "At present, I would like to express gratitude to Porto and Liverpool for how they embraced him. Luis is a player who easily triumphs due to his humility, hard work, and commitment. Thankfully, he is a highly disciplined player. There would be no issues if Luis were to move to Barcelona, as it's a top-tier team and among the best in the world."

Since 2007, Luis Diaz has played for various Colombian clubs. In 2019, Porto acquired him for €7.2 million from Junior, and during the winter transfer window of the 2022/23 season, he moved to Liverpool for €47 million. According to Transfermarkt, his current contract is valued at €75 million.
