Japanese club Vissel Kobe has officially announced the termination of its collaboration with experienced Spanish midfielder Juan Mata. He is leaving the club as a free agent.
"I am glad to have been part of the club in this historic season. I will never forget the moments we experienced together," commented Mata on his departure.
Juan Mata signed a four-month contract with Vissel Kobe only in September. He played for the Japanese club for just 10 minutes against Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
At the end of the completed season, Vissel Kobe won the J1 League for the first time in its history. Legendary player Andrés Iniesta also played for the club earlier.
Before joining Vissel Kobe, Mata played for Manchester United, Chelsea, Valencia, and Galatasaray. He has played 41 matches for the Spanish national team, scoring 11 goals.
