The legendary Mayweather has spoken out about his retirement
Legendary American world champion Floyd Mayweather has stated that he has no plans to retire just yet.
Details: According to Floyd, he intends to continue participating in exhibition bouts to further grow his wealth and legacy. The legendary fighter shared this on his Instagram page.
Quote: "Retirement is not about slowing down; it's about living life on your terms. I have worked hard to build a life where I can choose my adventures, and if those adventures still bring in multimillion-dollar earnings, even better! Success is not something you can retire from; it is something you refine.
Exhibitions are my way of giving my fans, old and new, the opportunity to witness my greatness on any stage I choose. That’s what any successful businessman and boss would do. It’s okay for Jeff Bezos, who is 60, Bill Gates at 68, and Warren Buffett at 93, to continuously build their legacies and wealth, and they’re celebrated as smart businessmen.
But when I, a Black man far younger in age, choose to do the same, somehow it becomes a problem for naysayers with nothing to their name. Bottom line, there’s too many of you busy pocket watching, while I’m busy still creating wealth and legacy" - wrote Mayweather.
Reminder: Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 with a perfect record of 50-0 but continued to participate in lucrative exhibition fights with influencers, reality stars, and others.
In August, Mayweather had an exhibition match with John Gotti III. Since it was an exhibition bout, no scores were given by the judges. The fight went all 8 rounds and ended without a winner.
Earlier, the fight between Floyd and Gotti III was harshly criticized by promoter and former fighter Oscar De La Hoya.
