The renowned former defender of Juventus and the Italian national team Giorgio Chiellini has decided to draw the curtains on his illustrious footballing career, as reported by Goal Italia journalist Romeo Agresti.

The 39-year-old player will not extend his contract with Los Angeles, which expires on the 31st of December, choosing to hang up his boots. He is set to officially announce his decision in the near time.

Chiellini is best known for his tenure at Juventus, where he spent 17 years (from 2005 to 2022) and became an indelible legend of the Turin-based club. In the iconic black and white jersey, the defender participated in 561 matches, scoring 36 goals. Alongside the Old Lady he clinched nine Italian championships, won the country's cup five times, and triumphed in the country's Super Cup an additional five times.

His impressive resume extends to the Italian national team, where since 2004, Chiellini has accumulated 117 caps and netted 8 goals. With the national squad, he became a European champion in 2020.

In the United States, the seasoned defender played from July 2022 onwards. With Los Angeles, he secured the MLS Cup. Before his era at Juventus, Chiellini represented Fiorentina and Livorno, the club where he was raised.
