The legendary Fabio Fognini knocks out the world No. 8 in the second round of Wimbledon


On Wednesday, July 3rd, the second-round matches of one of the world's premier tennis tournaments, Wimbledon, continued. In one of the matches, the legendary Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini faced off against the world No. 8, Casper Ruud.
Ruud was considered the favorite before the match, but the Italian managed to surprise everyone. He took the first set with a score of 6-4 and the second with a score of 7-5. Fognini put up a fight in the third set and was close to closing out the match, but Ruud managed to narrow the gap to 2-1.
However, Fognini held his ground. He started the fourth set strongly, preventing Ruud from leveling the match. The Italian tennis player secured a 3-1 victory, creating a genuine sensation.
Notably, Fognini was ranked 12th in the ATP rankings as recently as 2019. Now, at 37, he has made a legendary comeback, defeating the world No. 8.
